A Question of Expertise

A friend of mine, Amy, was asked, "What are you an expert on? Is it because of training, life experience, or both? Explain." She replied," I am an expert in voice. I have been singing since 4th grade and know a lot about music. And it's because of training and life experience."

My area of expertise is completely different and not artistic at all, mathematics. Of course, I have had both life experience and training in mathematics because children begin mathematics at a very early age. However, this is not the reason for my interest and expertise in it. My dad is a programmer, so mathematics is one of his areas of expertise. Like any young boy,  I wanted to be just like my father, so I decided that I should try to excel at mathematics. After a while, I realized that I really did like mathematics regardless of my dad. I personally believe that I can help other people through simplicity and convenience, through computer programming. Mathematical expertise is vital to helping others because it is an integral part of programming, the vehicle that I intend to use to help others. I may address programming in a later post, but this post is really about math. Basically, I've been interested in mathematics ever since I began school, and it is my area of expertise.

If you feel that you have a specific area of expertise, let me know in the comments section.
